Chemical Geology, ,   This new frontier of isotopic research has the potential to break through a ceiling of applications to diet and migration, and though it is a methodological advance, the potential it opens will permit and drive new research questions and new norms in how bioarchaeologists can and do think about past individuals and their experiences.

The New Frontiers Program was created by NASA in at the recommendation of the NRC's decadal survey for solar system research. In order to optimize solar system research, the NRC recommended a series of principal-investigator missions that encourage innovation and accomplish the main scientific objectives presented in the survey. The usefulness of stable-isotope techniques in vitamin A nutrition has been highlighted in a series of publications by the Vitamin A Tracer Task Force (15–17). In particular, the paired stable-isotope dilution technique has been used to generate new data on provitamin A conversion factors.

New frontiers in calcium stable isotope geochemistry: Perspectives in present and past vertebrate biology While the isotopic composition of eggshell appears to be comparable to diet and significantly enriched in 44 Ca in comparison with bone of egg-laying hens, the fates of such new frontiers research projects are unknown at first and Cited by: 2.

New frontiers in calcium stable isotope geochemistry: Perspectives in present and past vertebrate biology we review and examine the research outcomes on the potential of Ca isotopes as biomarkers of bone loss in physiological and pathological conditions such as bone cancers and osteoporosis.

Calcium isotopic patterns in enamel reflect Cited by: 2. New Frontiers for Sulfur Isotopic Analyses Article in Procedia Earth and Planetary Science December with 86 Reads How we measure 'reads'. The measurement of stable carbon (δ13C) and nitrogen (δ15N) isotopes in tissues of organisms has formed the foundation of isotopic food web reconstructions, as these values directly reflect assimilated diet.

In contrast, stable hydrogen (δ2H) and oxygen (δ18O) isotope measurements have typically been reserved for studies of migratory origin and paleoclimate reconstruction based on. Tracking Animal Migration with Stable Isotopes, Second Edition, provides a complete introduction to new and powerful isotopic tools and applications that track animal migration, reviewing where isotope tracers fit in the modern toolbox of tracking methods.

The book provides background information on a broad range of migration scenarios in. This contribution evaluates two possible routes of stable isotope tracing for ZnO nanomaterials.

For this we carried out the first high precision Zn isotope analyses of commercially available ZnO nanomaterials, to investigate whether such materials exhibit isotope fractionations that can be exploited for tracing purposes.

These measurements revealed Zn isotopic compositions (of. This handbook, written by prominent experts in mummy studies, offers readers a comprehensive guide to new understandings of the field’s most recent trends and developments.

New Frontiers in Asthma Treatment & Management In this Special Issue, we would like to move this field forward by inviting every original clinical and basic research, meta-analysis, and state-of-the-art review related to what was mentioned above.

(SIRT) protein family, has recently been demonstrated in stable and exacerbated chronic. Stable carbon and nitrogen isotope analyses of human and animal tissues have become an important means of studying both anthropogenic and natural food webs in aquatic ecosystems.

Within the rapidly expanding field of human and animal paleodietary analyses, archaeologists routinely incorporate isotopic data from fish, birds, and aquatic mammals into their interpretations of ancient freshwater. Ecologists have recently developed renewed interest in the concept, and technological advances now allow us to use stable isotope analyses to quantify these niche dimensions.

Analogously, we define the isotopic niche as an area (in δ‐space) with isotopic values (δ‐values) as coordinates. Fingerprint Dive into the research topics where Theo J G Tacail is active. These topic labels come from the works of this person.

New Frontiers in Micro-Analysis of Isotopic Compositions of Natural Materials: Development of O, S, Si, and Li Isotopes Project Summary The isotope ratios of oxygen and silicon are a sensitive monitor of sedimentary and hydrothermal processes for deposition of banded iron formation. New Frontiers in Micro-Analysis of Isotopic Compositions of Natural Materials: Development of Fe Isotopes Project Summary We are developing micro-analytical techniques to perform in situ Fe isotope analysis of Fe-bearing minerals by ion microprobe and laser ablation mass spectrometry.

The book approaches the use of isotopes from the perspective of ecological and biological research, but its concepts can be applied within other disciplines as well. In order to enable scientists to establish source-sink connections in ecological settings, Stable Isotope Ecology begins by reviewing fundamental topics of tracer fractionation and.Downloadable!

Stable isotope analysis of ground ice from a deep borehole in permafrost in the Kunlun Mountain Pass on the Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau, China, was carried out to assess the water source and origin of the ground ice. Five sections were isotopically distinguished in the borehole.

The ground‐ice samples had δ18O values ranging from − to −‰ (mean: −‰), δD values. This book highlights new and emerging uses of stable isotope analysis in a variety of ecological disciplines. While the use of natural abundance isotopes in ecological research is now relatively standard, new techniques and ways of interpreting patterns are developing : $
